This is book2 of the last rune it belongs to that subgenre of fantasy where people from earth are transported to another world where they possess the power to stop the evil badguy. however where the strength of the author lays is in his playing with subplots for example both of his main heroes suffer from serious problems Grace er doctor turned Witch suffers from emotional problems from an abusive childhood while Travis former barowner suffers from dyslexia a serious problem when you're the runelord and your power lies in the drawing and speaking of runes.
while the first book was about laying the foundations for the relationships in the series the second book is about firming these relationships in this series and developing every interesting subplot about a conspiracy back on earth. all in all a superior piece of work
