I came across Trudi's books this past Jenuary. I immediately fell in love with all three of them. The plot is clear yet filled with twists and the general characterisation is wonderful!
I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to be introduced to fantasy books or even some of the older fantasy readers. The series is certainly in my top 5!! Though the ending of the Black Magician left many loose threads- I was very unhappy with it- I have recently found out that three more books are coming out that are directly linked to the Black Magician trilogy and I cant wait for them either.

I really enjoied these books! I first decided to pick up the first after I had finished school and had had nothing to do. After about 100 pages into the first book I found myself unable to put it down. However though the main story line about Sonea was exciting and compelling, in the later books it strayed from her and I found the chapters harder to read and less stimulating. I took much pleasure however in reading these books and would recomend them to most people.
