Page 1 of 1 Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice
Submitted by Eulalia (May 09, 2005)When I began reading the Vampire Chronicles, I wasn't aware they were a series; I just remember myself, with only 7 years, taking 'Interview with the Vampire' from my father's room and hiding it in my own. My father didn't mind when he saw me reading it; he never had a special interest on it, so he said he didn't care about what I could do with the book.
So I began. I read it over and over many times, during years. I fell in love with Louis; he was so much like me, that even now I've got people that compare me to him. It's funny when I remember myself talking like him. It wasn't the normal vocabulary for a seven-year-old girl. I've grown with it. Then I found 'Lestat the Vampire' and 'Queen of the Damned'. I am totally in love with Anne's work. She's unique, genuine. I'm never going to find something as beautiful as her writings.
Her detailed writing style, the humanity of her characters, the deep thoughts... I couldn't be me without it. I highly recommend the Vampir Chronicles. I'm sure they won't deceive you. Submitted by Marina (Jan 19, 2003)The Chronicles are beyond the basic fairy tales and adventures of mythical and fictional characters. Since the age of 11 I have read and reread the chronicles, and every year I find a different face to it that I have not seen before. I have grown up on the words of these books, and learned not only acceptance of our own flaws but as well the acceptance of diversity. For anyone who seeks a book that they can fall in love with and grow with I recommend the chronicles highly. Be open to them and let Anne Rice take you out of the box of commonality. Be warned, you Will fall in love with Lestat, whether you're a man or a woman. Submitted by Terence (Dec 12, 2002)Anne Rice is definitely a wonderful author. I am surprised that only one person has chosen to review her. The Vampire Chronicles are all very good. I am currently reading The Vampire Armand. Thusfar all have had great plots and emotionally deep ideas to ponder. I cannot compare her to much else, since I am only 14, but I know people that are much older that have also found these books to be masterpieces. They are not as gore-stricken as you might think -- the characters are quite human, and I find them asking and occasionally answering questions that I, at least, believe run through many people's minds all the time. For example, Memnoch, the Devil was, you guessed it: about the devil. It digs farther and more believably into his story than any book or movie I've ever come across, and I think that things stated in this book are things that almost force you to pay great consideration to. All of the books are good, though. I can't pick a favorite. Submitted by Saeru (Apr 17, 2001) Okay, I just don't understand why Mrs. Rice never had a section for reviews here. She is absolutely wonderful! If you have never read her Vampire Chronicles, then you don't know what you're missing. It's one of the best series I've ever read! Oh sure, Memnoch the Devil was a disappointment (to me), but all in all, the books are magnificent. Really. Anne Rice is such a talented writer, with such vivid imagination, and it all shows in her books. I mean, come on, they didn't make a movie out of "Interview With the Vampire" for nothing!
