Comments to Father's Day Part 1 & 2 of 3 by John Karnay
Submitted by Thomas Wardly (Jul 12, 2010)Great character development and sense of mood. I'm curious to see what happens next as there seems to be an underlying foreshadowing of a conflict between her and her father. The main character is really awesome and I would love to read more with her. Great job. Submitted by David Cross (Jul 12, 2010)After reading this short story, I found myself wanting more. Not in a bad way however. The character is fantastic and the realistic way the writer portrays everything that happens makes this a fantastic story. I recently read Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane and The Dark Tower by Stephen King and I definitely agree with the previous comments. Great work.
Submitted by Will Tolbin (Oct 26, 2009)Great story. Reminds me of a cross between Dennis Lehane and Stephen King. I love the main character. Submitted by Bill Willingham (Nov 24, 2007)I have been familiar with John's writing for many years now. He is a big fan of mine and I would like to return the favor. I think his
his character development in this story is excellent. He has a great sense of plot and timing that really makes the reader feel like he is inside the main character's head. It's like reading an old Humphrey Bogart movie. He has a modern sense of Noir that really goes over well for this tale.
I am fan of the story and of the character Veronica Stern and would love to read more stories with her. Writing for a tough female protagonist can be hard and easily cliched but I never doubted for one minute that the character was genuine. Great work!
