Ouch. Who did he bang? The wife or the man? Personally, I would have banged both. I like how you made it so that not only was he dealing with the trauma of losing his wife, but the dramatics of finding his wife with another man so quickly. I am slightly confused, however, as to why exactly she left. Was it because he had become so emotionless, because of his job, or because he was never home? I also want to know if the point was that his wife left, or if the point was his job. By the way, I think that it is good enough to win...not that I am so much of a science fiction guru or anything.
