Comments to The Bonehunters by Steven Erikson
Submitted by Danny (Dec 13, 2006)I disagree with the point that it is not a stand alone tail. I find that the only redeeming part of the Lord of Rings trilogy is the sense of depth and history to it. To give a sense of history, you need at the same time to feel that you are experiencing history as you read the tale. Not all questions need to be answered in the course of a tale. It leaves an interest in the world arround. Much like studying history, Steven Erikson's tales stand alone as easily as any individual year in history. It doesn't stop moving. I believe that they are all that much better for the living breathing part of it all.

However I agree that the story can be confusing and I find that I got lost a number of times. Still with all that, I found that I could not stop reading and some of the scenes I read over and over again as I was gripped by the events occurring on the pages. I would recommend this series to everyone who is a fantasy reader.
