Yes, re-read the book and you'll see that your concern is actually addressed in the book. And as for the book, it is simply amazing. Sanderson is far and away my favorite author.

Agreed, your concern is addressed at a major turning point in the book.

"I was expecting her father or a group of men from Idris to come into Hallendren in search for Vivenna." Explaining overmuch would be spoilerish, but I say read it again.
