The Testament Of Seth M. Dorren by Eric Butler

Well you can speak sweet words
And maybe I'll listen
Follow me to the old desert mission
Tell me when I'll die
And maybe I'll remeber
And maybe I'll attend
If it's not in cold dead winter

Well the travels of a man
Bring endless stories
And things are no different for Seth M. Dorren
If you should find your home
Down in Colima
Make sure to tell the road
It's lost a son

You'll hear folks speak
Of the man in black
They'll tell you of a shadow
With the sun on his back
Saying a prayer
In every town he rest
And light one candle
Before you get off your knees

If you meet him today
He'll tell you a story
Of two strangers he met
Down in Laredo
The first was a young man
Handsome and clean shaven
Shiny suit and tie
In overwhelming heat
He said Seth i've come to know you
From your blind devotion
Why would you of all people
Care for something you can't even see
You've lost something precious
And it's time to do something for yourself
Sit here and have a drink with me
And I'll show you what I meen
Seth noticed something
In the smiling strangers jacket
The man pulled it from his coat
And put it on the table
It was a pistol in shiny silver
It's beautiful isn't it
Said the young man
In a sort of glee
Make me a promise Seth
And I'll give it to you for free

And you can go on for so long
If you can say with honesty
That you path isn't wrong
And you can go on for so long
And sooner of later
You'll be in your destiny

Well the second man he met
Was a run down old man
Sitting alone in a corner
With a cane in his hand
His face was worn with hardship
And dirt was upon his hands
Singing of the troubles of every man

Seth asked the old stranger
How has life wronged you
And the old man just smiled
With his yellow teeth
He said son I've seen everything
That is ugly in this world
And still there is no other place
That I would rather be
I've lost so many loved ones
And I have nothing to my name
But still I choose to walk
Till I find my place in life
And if I should die
Before I'm ever found usefull
I'll still smile from the chance
That could have never been

He got up to leave
But before he departed
He asked Seth what his next move would be
Will you stay here a while longer
And have another drink
Or will you keep walking that road
And see where you end up

And you can go on for so long
If you can say with honesty
That you path isn't wrong
And you can go on for so long
And sooner of later
You'll be in your destiny

Well you can speak sweet words
And maybe I'll listen
Follow me to the old desert mission
Tell me when I'll die
And maybe I'll remeber
And maybe I'll attend
If it's not in cold dead winter
