Take It Away by Carolyn Northerland

"I'm here for you,"
I tell them daily.
They come to me,
I heal their wounds.
That's the way it's always been.
That's the way it's always been...

"Don't cry, my love,"
I told her one night.
It's not your fault
They hurt you so.
Let me take away your pain,
Let me take it all away.

Their pain is less
After they leave me.
I can take theirs.
No one takes mine.
Because they don't know I hurt.
Who needs to know that I hurt?

"I'm here for you,"
They tell me daily.
I smile and nod,
Too proud to say.
And it's killing me inside.
I know I'm dying inside.

I need a light
To get me through this.
Break the darkness
I cant get past.
I'm asking you to help me.
Is it too late to help me?

"Don't cry my love,"
She told me today.
She held me close,
Her voice so soft.
She's taking my pain away,
As she steals my heart away.
