within these walls the pain is dear
mellowed dousing flame
eternity grips and draws me near
my life and soul to claim

pull me hard and hold me close
weep upon my fate
another day another dose
another hope too late

amongst this madness sane is bland
trodden from the maze
life and fear and palm of hand
dry within I gaze

within these walls I dare not weep
madness washes cold
I tremble from the edge of sleep
reality loses hold
