Spider by Jo Celine

Spider
you went out of your way to invite me
to pause for a moment
to look and see the wonder and the mystery of your life
to consider that it was your intention to seek attention
to be seen.
I stop and gaze
at your segmented leggy way of moving
your purposeful climb along my arm
questing for pry
certain of purpose
expecting fulfillment
oblivious to the possibility that a single gesture
une erreur de ma part, sans faire par exprès
could end your life
but you are confident that I will take care.
You have chosen well.
I want to know.
Voyeuse, I watch in anticipation of some secret unveiled
and then
you’re gone.
