The inner child
These petals are falling
i can't keep them alive any longer
there black and rotting
i know you need me
I've held you
though my arms were breaking
I've kept back the fire though i was burning

you have to face it
to cry tears that fall off your face
from your eyes
not mine
I've been through so much pain it seems okay
to put me through so much more
to block it out yourself
your going to fall
it's going to hurt
i can stay inside you
you can know I'm there
but you have to face it

I'm the child
the inner child
that has escaped
I'm the child thats felt the pain

the adult hides behind me
my body is not big enough to shield her
from what comes round the corner
a beast ready to tear me open
to expose a truth
please let go
you can fight it and beat it alone

the beast is here
his hot stinking breath on my face
his claw lifts up ready to swoop down
i brace myself for the blow
and hope she lets go
