walking in the cold
her breath rises like smoke
lost in her thoughts
she barely remembers to stop at the traffic lights
woken with the sharp angry horn of a car
drifting in and out of consciousness
she feels the presence of another behind her
wanting to look round but she keeps her temptations under wraps
praying for that hand to come round across her face
a hand to cover her mouth
to be slowly jerked back to a place where no one can hear her screams
beaten and broken and left for the wolfs to feast on her
bloody foot prints left in the snow

a ear-splitting screech wakes her up again
from her warped vision
her bloodshot eyes shoot open
gasping for air like she’s been held under water
gulping down before she throws up
in her head she’s insane
outside she puts on the front
that she can stand on her own two feet
and that she’s coping

taking her lifeless hand you thought she was dead
but believe her when she whispers
“I’m still beating”
leading you to the abandoned warehouse
you stand behind watching as she sits on the edge
where there once was a window
smashed now leaving glass shards framing the edge
digging into her thighs
blood trickles down the sides of the building

her nails grip the sides she’s in pain but its nothing compared
to the agony inside
turning to stare deep into your eyes
“you know what to do”
without thinking you leap forward and push her
the crash of broken bones echo’s through out the neighbourhood

angels fallen from grace puts beauty in its place
a mesh of broken wings
and bloody faces
innocent hearts smashed to pieces
the wings that never caught her when she fell
