i will by Terry Cummings

Let us laugh at virtue and praise at majesty and fame
and let us feast
fortunes stroke leather and gold
surrounds us
The theme, the fun, the focus and the fascination
it is all such an ocean and yet it is vast
it hushes me
though you cannot know
And all that rips at the wrath and at my heart
That blinds me
And grips me in black shaped fist
Spitting out blood of silent fury and tears
oh weeping pregnancy
And i will wait on this stage and pause
just so
That whilst I shake beneath my tautened skin
You will see smiles and green and blue and sun and peace
They betray the everything. everything
and weaken your fortress (i pray in whisper)
That I step quietly toward
And i will burn your dead.
