Into one by Terry Cummings

Wind cries from us
Birds hide from its enlisted fury
Flowers weep at their loss
As petals render away

We tear at the night
Breaking at shadows
Biting the air
That explodes around us

We are stark and exposed
Beneath our nails
Splendour, need and certainty
Rips from our skin

We clutch and pull
With trembling arms
In pain and need

And so much greed

We are shattered
Into one
