THE UNICORN by Cathy Bryant

He comes from stories all around,
silently standing on shadowed ground
watching and waiting upon the cliffs
eyes alert and nose a twitch
he raises his nose and takes a quick sniff
smells the danger all around
sounds his horn and paws the ground
warning his keepers
trouble's around.
he raises his head
and swings it around, turns and runs
to the safety he's found

his melodious trumpets
carry on thru the wind
telling stories of frumpets
and all kinds of things

A unicorn: such a mythical creature,
we know every detail
and every beautiful feature.
they appear in our dreams
and all of our wishes
as we head to our beds
after mommas sweet kisses.
