Today by Bonnie Shover

I used to dream and
believe in my dreams
but we, like the
setting sun that day
simply faded away.

It seemed each new dawn
without you
would last an eternity.

I do not dream of setting suns
or homecomings anymore

I do not dream of yesterdays
or tomorrows
spent with you.

Today I dream
for me
and me alone.

And I'm finding that,
because their mine
and mine alone
these dreams, unlike us,
will last forever.
