Reminders by Jack Farquharson

Through dark and blackened sky at night,
Come dancing shafts of brilliant light.
Mother displays her awesome might,
We gasp in wonder at the sight.

Yet the lessons we do not learn.
We smash and rape, destroy and burn.
Pollute the earth at every turn.
The risk we seem to not discern.

Reminders given plain to see,
Earthquake, landslide and tsunami.
"It's terrible", we all agree,
Cruel nature causing tragedy!

But how can we still be so blind?
Why would we think she wouldn't mind!
The time will come when we will find,
Our actions are repaid in kind.
