Forgiveness by Micah Watkins

“Forgiveness”
A Poem by Micah Watkins

Bruised, Battered
Destroyed, Lost
My heart is shattered
My life’s the cost.
My pride is gone
My dignity, dead
Forgiveness, I long
As my soul bled
Love on a cross
Why couldn’t it have been me?
Was it the spear I toss
Or my growing insanity
That hangs you there;
That made tears fall from your eyes?
Life’s not fair
And as my heart dies
I find forgiveness in death;
The death of a friend.
As he breaths his last breath
I find, though I have sinned,
He loved me ‘till the end.
