Sunrise Skies by Matt Jakstis
(7 ratings)
| The sun begins its ascent into a sunrise sky
The start of a new day and I wonder why,
It’s a new day rising, a new day today,
Bringing light to brighten the way,
Bringing a burst of color and many other things,
The birds chirp at the new day it brings,
The day is clear, I can see all there is to see,
Geese flying past the sun in a V,
The white clouds floating by,
Through the light azure sky,
I walk down to a flowing stream,
It feels like I’m in a dream,
The air is warm but not too much,
I put my feet in the water, it’s cool to my touch,
The water is cool, tranquil, and I’m at peace,
And I continuously hope that it’ll never cease,
Flowers gently bowing in the breeze,
The wind rustling through the trees,
The sun is now in the midday sky,
And I continue to wonder why,
The sun is now on the other side,
Preparing for its nightly hide,
The sky is bright with a soft amber,
As a mist gently settles on the water,
The day begins to come to a close,
I sighed, then arose,
I walk to my home,
The only one I’ve known,
Then I lay down and close my eyes,
And I fall asleep wondering why,
Wondering why there are sunset skies
