(Page 4 of 4) The Glory Train by Robert WilliamsThrough the window up front I saw all the land go flying past, and a great rooster-tail of dirt and debris rising up beyond the train. A deer went flying by, caught up in the Glory Train's passage, its legs all kicking as the wind ripped off its hide.
I pulled up the lever Samuel had pushed down, but the train didn't get any slower. It kept shooting down the track like a bullet aimed straight at the heart of the nation. I felt panic trying to drown me, but I fought it back. I couldn't lose my head now that everything depended on me. I had to do my Daddy proud and stop this train somehow, even if I had to turn every lever on the death-dealing thing.
I'm still riding the Glory Train, still trying to stop it. I know it'll soon come to the end of the line, and if I can't stop it before then, it'll crash and all that deadly cargo will leak out. I also know that even if I do stop it, someone worse than Samuel might come along and get a hold of all that evil stuff. But what choice do I got? I have to do my best and make sure everything turns out okay.
And somehow, by God, I will.
