(Page 2 of 2) Piano Man by Emil Rajkowski Time slithered along ever so slowly, the sky grew black and I closed my eyes.
When I awoke pressure had swollen up inside of me; my eyes were being forced from my head. A vulgar saline texture filled my mouth and burned my eyes. My head felt like nothing more then a block of cold, dumb ice. I fought for oxygen, while my body was reaching out to the sky, but the waves would just pound it back into the fractured deck. I screamed, but not even the slightest sound was released. I heard the second wave lurch up above me. I tried withdrawing a mouthful of air, yet snorted in mostly water, and again braced myself. The ocean unleashed its greatest power, and hit me like a gunshot to the head, and I was gone. I could only sense my limp body, floating, sinking, and dying. I faintly felt a smooth, clammy surface beneath me, but my weakness was too strong. I felt as though I was back at home, lying on my bed in a deep sleep and consciousness left me. I have no idea how long I lay on that rocky beach, but when I awoke I could not scream for help, and my mind felt as if it had been flushed out by the waves. The only sound in my mind was that of a piano; playing that same ‘ole blissful tune and it comforted my shaken mind.
