The Long Walk Home Part 1 by Gerard T Joseph

or so the legend states. You look tired Alneezar.... my name is Godswind, begging your pardon. Would you like to enter my humble abode for refreshment?"

"Your offer is very graceful sir, but, I walk this mountain to die and I intend to reach the top without the aid of any refreshment...."

Suddenly Godswind let out a burst of laughter.

"You intend to reach the top? I can say without doubt Mr Alneezar that no one has ever reached the top and you wont either. This mountain holds secrets and evils that you cant even comprehend. Legends and myths will come alive on your little walk, and most of them are..... not very inviting to say the least. You shall not reach the top...."

Alneezar, despite a pang of fear after what the man said, replied steadily,

"I care not for what this mountain has in store, I said I intend to reach the top and all I can do is try. I dont fear death.... that is why I climb this mountain, so if youll excuse me, I have a rather long walk ahead of me."

Godswind after listening to Alneezar, stood as if in thought. Suddenly he reached into his cloak and looked at a small device.

"Hmm.... you have a while before you die, so you...." he began

Alneezar stared at the man for a moment and said,

"How do you know this? What..... what are you?"

Godswind tapped his nose and smiled at Alneezar.

"Well, dead man. Lets begin this little journey eh? Ill bring no provisions with me. If you dont intend to eat, neither do I." He gestured toward the next part of the path. "Shall we?"

Alneezar gaped at Godswind for a moment before walking forward.
