(Page 3 of 3) Prologue: The Nothing War by Micheal Ikeson
Erisha whipped around. "How long have you been spying on us, Omron?" When no reply came, she sighed dejectedly. "What do you want?"
Red smiled terribly and said, "Do nothing to these lovers. That boy will prove extremely useful in the next few months. I want my two most prized servants to embark on a new mission."
Erisha stared into Red's green eyes and wondered if he was aware that he was being possessed. Probably not. "What new mission?"
"There is an empire that is expanding exponentially. If my reports are reliable, then it would seem that this empire's army fights with weaponry from the fifth age. That doesn't send chills down that lovely spine? Fine, than this will. The emperor is Ankoreon."
Erisha gaped at Omron's last assertion. What was an Ankoreon doing in this world? I thought the Ankoreons lost interest in this dimension over a thousand years ago. An army carrying weapons from the fifth age was also cause for alarm. Okay, you bastard, your desires are plain enough. "So we halt this empire in its tracks and kill their emperor? Where is this empire anyway?"
Omron grinned again. "Ante Don`ar."
Erisha groaned and Omron's smile deepened for reasons only he knew.

Caira awoke to find Quinzin bruised and battered sitting cross legged on the ground. "What happened to you?" She asked cynically.
Quinzin peered at her, and then glanced away immediately. "A fight," he said impassively.
Caira nearly smiled. "So you lost then?"
"The battle is over." Quinzin pointed out.
She glanced around and exclaimed, "This is a ruin!"
"Why did we come here?" Quinzin muttered.
"We had to make our presence felt in this world! I think we did a good job too, until some brute of a god started throwing boulders at us." She fell silent and then bounded up suddenly excited. "I think I know who it was!"
"Good." Quinzin clambered upright with a groan. "We can go kill him."
"How do you know it was a he, sweetheart?" Caira asked with a devious smile. Quinzin cocked his head as he stared at her, but wisely chose to remain silent. "I think it's time to go back to headquarters. I have a feeling this war is over."
Caira began walking away from the ruins of Homiel with Quinzin's hulking figure trailing.
