(Page 3 of 3) The Wandering Man by Richard Ridyard'Kate is dead and Jay has been taken away by the police.'
‘Don't be so sad. You will remember only good about Jay. There will be no downhill. I told you I killed my wife Eileen. Now you have the happiest memories you can get. You made your own choices as did Jay don't ever forget that. You should be happy.'
‘I know but it just doesn't feel right.'
‘It will do. I have given advice to many people and now they all have happy memories. They have for filled fantasies and have done things they could only dream of. Philip for filled his fantasy. Chris got his revenge. Claire saved her memories. William Griffith saved his marriage and now you have saved your memories. I have been glad to help.'
Andrea glances over to what the man is carrying. ‘What's in the box?'
‘It's something I owned many years ago, back when I first met Eileen. It's a musical box. You've heard of the opera The Merry Widow haven't you?'
‘No is it good?'
‘The best, anyway it's back where it belongs now with me.'
‘Thank you for everything. Things will be alright won't they?'
‘Yes I promise.' They go to depart when Andrea says, ‘Wait I don't even know your name.'
‘That's not important just think of me as the wandering man.' and with that they go their separate ways.
The wandering man returns to a place he calls home for the time being. He goes into the living area and takes a long hard look at someone who is sitting in his chair. That person is the previous owner of the musical box. The person responsible for the chain reaction of events. Sitting silently is a person who is obsessed and heart broken. That person is David Williams. The wandering man has already killed him by a gun shot to the chest and has tied him up. The motionless body left in the chair to rot. The wondering man smiles and walks out of the room closing the door behind him whilst whistling The Merry Widow theme tune.
A Police detective comes in while an autopsy is going on.
'So was it as we suspected?' asks the detective.
'Yes the victim has marks on thier wrists and shins from the restraints. They died from the gunshot to the chest. Have you caught the killer detective?' asks the physician.
'No the killer was no where to be seen and there are no leads so far.'
'So the killer is still out there. Out there to kill again.'
'It won't be long before the killer is caught though that I promise you.' states the detective.
'Has the victim been identified?' asks the physician.
'Yes it's a Mr David Williams.'
'Detective are you still having those problems with your wife.' enquires the physician.
'Yes, I'm sure she is still cheating on me why do you ask?'
'It's just that I have some advice for you.'
