(Page 2 of 2) Everdawn by Gerard T JosephThoras remembered vividly the moment the Master had fell from the wall. Guards sprinted through the gates of the village only to find scorched grass and the broken body of the villages protector. Whatever had attacked the village came to find the Master and nothing else. Thoras suddenly felt angry and he released his mother. Clenching his fists, he strode through the village gates. Another thing was bugging him. He was sure he had seen something behind Master Acemorns body today. It was like a faint light that danced occasionally, but stayed in the same spot. It was mildly disturbing. Thoras tried to push these thoughts from his head as a bell rang urgently.
"Woman and children, get inside! All capable of bearing arms prepare for battle! The village is under attack!"
Thoras was a pretty bulky 17 year old boy and his sword always hung at his side. He sprinted down to the village gate as fast as his legs would take him.

"Archers, to the wall! All swordsmen stand and wait till the village is breached!"
Thoras obeyed the command and stood ready with his sword. The archers were already launching arrows at the attackers. Men were falling from the wall clutching arrows protruding from their bodies. THUD
The gate suddenly shuddered under the weight of a battering ram.
CRACK
Splinters showered the defenders. Most men pulled the swords from their scabbards, and Thoras followed suit. The gates suddenly crashed inward, and shadows advanced through the gate. With an almighty cry, the men of Mistwood surged forward, into the oncoming foe.
