SUMMARY: This is my mars story , hope you enjoy ; ) by Praetar

Helidorn fought to stem the rising panic in her. Red dust swirled all about her now.... She had been here before, every part of her being told her this, like some unknown truth that was buried deeply away in the catacombs of her mind. She stumbled forward, the landscape around was a myriad of shades of red it all seemed to blend together.
The valley stretched onward, its oval shape rising up to greet this eternal red storm . Her blond hair was matted now , Helidorn squinted her red eyes to make out the pathway ahead. She tightened her scarf ever tighter and made her way forward towards the pathway. It veered away to the left between two black pillars. Two lone black pillars amongst all this red, they had no business being here thought Helidorn. They were alien to this world , alien like you she thought.

Her radio Crackled to life , ''Have you found it yet?'', '' I am entering the Pillars Path now'', she replied . '' Be careful Helidorn, ''Our sensors cant penetrate any further''.
''I will radio you as soon as I come out Dorel''. With that she put her radio back into her pouch and slowly made her way towards the pillars.

This Planet was said to be dead , a veritable wasteland among the cosmos. It had been said to be once like earth but had whitered and died billions of years ago. Scientists had long since
lost interest in Mars and had searched further on into the galaxy for answers to the reasons for their existence.
All that had changed now, this planet was coming alive, not in a good way she thought, there was some malice to it like some shadow that was creeping towards her very soul. She had changed too , so had her dreams, voices called to her urging her to go ...Always the same dream...Always the two pillars and the shadow.

She had always known she was different . Helidorn was teased and mocked as a child and had hated her appearance . Red eyes , wispy blond hair and a long willowy figure , not qualities that endear you to the world . She had lost count of the times other children had driven her to tears while she was growing up. '' Your better than them all '', Her mother had said. ''You dont know how special you are'' .
There was always comfort in her mothers words like some warm blanket she could wrap around herself to protect her, and yet there was also a knowing look in Alissa's eyes a look as though she were privy to something nobody else knew.

These thoughts seemed a world away now as she made her way into the shadow of these huge monolithic pillars , carved with all manner of symbols they cast a foreboding presence on everything and once again she felt the fear in her rising . None other had made it this far, many had been sent, all had dissapeared . Yet she had known she would be different there was something here that called to her, spoke to her mind in a subtle way. There were answers here.

Stopping, she raised her hand and tried to see past the pillars, there was noting , just a void. The planet beat its angry drum all around and here in the midst of it all stood the perfect antithesis.
She slowly passed beneath the pillars and moved into the void beyond .
