A woman emerged from the shadows of the dense vegetation. Her grey eyes glowed with power. Her thin face was attractive, but not astonishingly so. What distinguished her from any other demigod was the massive scar that ran from her ear down to her chest. Jakye wondered what being was capable of inflicting such a wound.

"You both will fail," Lorelyn pronounced in the Ancient Tongue.

Jakye replied in kind. "It's nice to see you. It's been, what, two-hundred years? What makes you think that we will fail? Has what I am doing been attempted before? Ever? Who will see this coming?"

The Erian eyed him. "You may be right," she conceded, "but that does not mean that I will let you trounce the last remaining civilizations."

"Speak so that I can understand!" Orkus snarled at the two humans.

Jakye mockingly smiled up at the demon. "I do not owe you any knowledge. If you cannot understand us, that is your failing, not ours." He spoke in the Ancient Tongue again, "Then the war has already started."

Lorelyn sighed. "I was hoping to dissuade you, but I can see that is beyond you. Very well, your fate has been sealed, Quirnus."

He lashed out with a deadly arc of sorcery. The Erian, predictably, vanished. Damn those shape shifting Erian! He could have followed, then. He could have vanished into the blissful, mindless elements. He was half-Erian after all. He would have given chase, if not for the essential meeting here.

"Do we have a deal?" the Demon Lord asked quietly from his side.
Jakye turned to face the powerful demon. Orkus appeared shaken. No, it must be his imagination.

"We have a deal."

Jakye's hand closed around the enormous clawed hand of Orkus. He shook it.

The agreement was sealed. The war had begun.
