The goblin screamed in pain as the axe buried deep into its chest. It fell over dead bleeding all over the wagon. "So much for keeping the things in mint condition" muttered Filien to himself. Filien ran to his wife kneeling down to her. "Vicila!" he said to her shaking her. "Don't leave my love....I can't do this without you" he said to his dead wife which he was already aware of by now as he broke down weeping.
Levas heard Filien call to his wife but was too busy to turn his head and look. Levas knew she was in trouble though when Filien spilled the guts of the goblin he was fighting and ran to her. The goblin he was fighting looked much like the others. Small green skinned creatures with pointed ears. This one was wearing a fur pelt over his body as well as boots. The creature made a stab to Levas's left side but he easily side stepped the attack. Levas quickly reached out and grabbed the goblin's arm extending it. With a quick circular motion Levas chopped the creature's arm clear off just above the elbow. The goblin yelled in pain and ran quickly back into the deep of the forest. Levas turned around and his heart jumped for a moment as he saw Filien crying over the body of Vicila. Filien was mourning her so much that he had totally lost consciousness of the fact that he was in the middle of a battle or simply no longer cared. Levas started to run as he saw a goblin approach Filien from behind raising its axe to strike him over his wife. "Filien behind you!" Levas yelled in Elven but he did not hear him. Levas ran as fast as he could and swung at the creature just as it had raised its axe. The creature's head went rolling on the ground as he chopped it clear off. "Filien get a hold of yourself! There will be time for morn......" Levas's words were interrupted when he felt a sharp pain pierce right through his chest. He looked down to find a spear that had gone right through his chest and was sticking out. Levas's eyes turned to his friend who had managed to pry his head from his wife only to find his best friend with a spear through his chest. Levas fell falling forward into the arms of his friend for the last time.
Serysses and his mother Ninomeen had been keeping the goblins at bay valiantly at their wagon firing arrow after arrow from their bows. After sending another goblin to its end Serysses turned his head to check on Filien, Levas, and Vicila. Serysses found Filien crying on top of his wife who he could only assume to be dead by Filien's reaction. Serysses saw the goblin raise the axe to strike Filien and saw his father step in and behead it. Then Serysses saw a goblin approach from behind. "Father behind you!" he yelled to him but it was too great a distance with the noise of battle and he could only stand by helplessly as the goblin thrust the spear right into his father's back and watch him fall into the arms of Filien. Serysses became enraged and let out a vicious battle cry. He knocked an arrow and let it loose. The arrow pierced right through the back of the goblin's skull and it fell over dead.
