Knowing Filien would need help Serysses unsheathed his short sword and charged to the back of the caravan to help him. Serysses reached Filien and helped him to his feet just as more goblins rushed to the spot of his fallen father and Vicila. A good number of the goblins did not attack them though. Most of them started to jump on to Filien and Vicila's wagon and started looking through their things. A number of the goblins also went to the bodies of the mercenaries, all of them dead by now as Serysses noticed looking around, and started to pull off their armor and valuables. A couple of goblins however had not filled their blood lust as one goblin stepped toward Serysses and took a swing at him with a small hammer. The goblin went for Serysses's head which he parried with his short sword. Serysses took a swing at its left side but it stepped back and evaded the attack. The goblin quickly counter attacked with its own blow. Serysses parried the attack again and this time reached for the goblin's arm. Serysses seized it and extended it pulling the goblin forward. Serysses took the blade and thrust it right into the goblin's midsection. He pulled his blade free and turned just in time to see Filien finish off the goblin he was fighting with a pulling slash to the goblin's collar bone severing it. The goblin fell in a pool of its own blood. Serysses and Filien turned around as they heard Ninomeen yell to them "Serysses and Filien come quick!"
Serysses and Filien turned to find chaos before their eyes. The mercenaries were all but dead and there was only Ninomeen trying to defend the wagon. There were goblins all around her looting, shooting arrows, and some slowly creeping in to attack her. Serysses and Filien broke into a sprint to reach Ninomeen to help her but it was in vain. As she let loose another arrow a goblin let loose an arrow of its own and it struck Ninomeen right in her stomach. Ninomeen collapsed and fell off the horse and onto the ground. "No!" yelled Serysses still charging with Filien. Serysses felt weak from fatigue of the battle and of his own heart. The battle had lasted long for a boy his age and he in one day had saw his father, mother, and one of their good friends all fall plus the lives of all the mercenaries they had hired. Serysses collapsed on his mother crying and no longer felt strong enough in mind and body to fight. She was not dead but she was dieing fast.
The goblins swarmed over the area and seemed to surround Filien, Serysses, and Ninomeen. The majority of the goblins had forgotten all about the battle though and now began to loot what ever they could find. Only a small group of goblins still focused their attention on Filien who stood by Serysses and Ninomeen with his curved elven sword at the ready. One of the goblins stepped in with a short sword it had looted off one of the mercenaries and took a swing at Filien's left leg. Filien pulled his leg back and took a swing at the creatures back. Filien buried the sword right into the goblin's back becoming momentarily stuck.
