THEY DIDN'T FIND MAMA. GOOD. BUT NOW THEY ARE COMING OUT INTO THE BACKYARD, AND I HEAR THE FENCE BEING RIPPED OUT THE GROUND AND CRUMPLE LIKE PAPER AS THEY COME THROUGH IT AND RIP IT DOWN. I HEaR THEM COMING BEHIND ME. BUT I LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD THROUGH THE MIST. E WILL COME. I KNOW HE WILL. HE ALWAYS DOES. HE WILL SAVE ME AND MAMA.
I CAN HEAR THEM RIGHT BEHIND ME COMING FROM THE BACK YARD TO GET ME, HEAR THEIR RATTLED BREATHING, HEAR THE FEET SLUGGISHLY DRAG ACROSS THE GROUND. I HEAR THE OTHER ONES SHUFFLING DOWN THE STREET. THEYRE COMING, THEY'LL GET ME ANY MINUTE UNLESS E COMES. HURRY UP E, I WHISPER. I AM VERY SCARED. I HAVE TEARS IN MY EYES.
I STRETCH MY HAND FARTHER INTO THE MIST. I DON'T THINK E IS COMING THOUGH. HE HAS NEVER LEFT ME. WHY ISNT HE COMING? HE HAS NEVER LEFT ME LIKE THIS BEFORE. IF HE DOESN'T COME FOR ME I MIGHT DIE. I DON'T WANT TO DIE. I DON'T WANT MAMA TO DIE. IF HE DOESN'T COME IN A FEW SECONDS, I WILL RUN BACK INSIDE.
Now they are RIGHT BEHIND ME. I CAN SEE ONE OF THEM OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE. HE IS REACHING FOR MY OUTSTRETCHED HAND. HE WILL GRAB IT ANY SECOND NOW AND THEN HE WILL PROBABLY POSSESS MY BODY OR KILL ME OR SOMETHING. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BUT I KEEP HOLDING OUT MY HAND. IF I DON'T HOLD OUT MY HAND E WONT COME FOR ME HE WONT SEE I NEED HELP. WHY DOESN'T HE COME HE HAS NEVER FAILED TO COME BEFORE. THEY ARE SURROUNDING ME NOW IN A CIRCLE STANDING AROUND ME AND ONE OF THEM HAS REACHED OUT WITH HIS HAND HIS FINGERTIPS ARE INCHES AWAY FROM MY HAND. I CLOSE MY EYES AND CRY WAITING FOR THE WORST.
AND THEN I FEEL ANOTHER HAND GRAB MINE. IT IS E.
HE YANKS ME UP IN HIS ARMS AND RUNS. THERE ARE SHOUTS ALL AROUND NOW. THEY ARE MAD. THEY HAVE LOST THEIR PREY. BUT I AM NOT WORRIED. I AM NOT SCARED. E IS HERE. I LOOK BACK AND SEE THEM RUNNING AFTER US.
DON'T BE SCARED, IM HERE, E WHISPERS TO ME.
I AM KIND OF SCARED THOUGH. THERE ARE SO MANY. WHAT IF THEY TRY TO KILL E AND THEY DO? I CAN NOT FIGHT THEM ON MY OWN.
I CAN HEAR THEIR HISSES ALL AROUND NOW. THEY ARE VERY ANGERY0. THEY COULD KILL ME AND E. I AM SCARED.
DON'T LISTEN TO THEIR VOICES, THEY DON'T LOVE YOU LIKE ME, E WHISPERS.
WE ARE IN THE HOUSE NOW. E PUTS ME DOWN , PICKS UP THE DOOR AND SLAMS IT BACK INTO PLACE. I CAN HEAR THEM ALL AROUND THE HOUSE, SEE THEIR UGLY FACES IN THE WINDOW.
THEN THE WINDOWS BREAK AND THE DOOR IS TORN FROM ITS PLACE AND THROWN IN THE YARD. THEY POUR IN TO TRY TO GET TO ME. BUT THEN E SHOUTS GO! RUN! AT ME AND I CAN HEAR HIM FIGHTING THEM AS I RUN AWAY INTO THE KITCHEN.
THEN ONE OF THEM JUMPS THROUGH ONE OF THE WINDOWS. I SCREAM AND THROUGH MY KNIFE AT HIM. IT IMBEDS IN HIS THROAT AND HE CONVULSES TO THE GROUND AS BLACK BLOOD SPRAYS OUT ONTO THE TILE FLOOR.
THEN E COMES RUNNING IN. HE LOOKS HURT NOT BAD BUT HE HAS A CUT ON HIS FACE AND ONE OF HIS ARMS LOOKS BROKEN. HE GRABS ME AGAIN AND WE RUN OUT THE BACK DOOR. NOW WE RUN ACROSS THE FENCE THAT IS LYING ON THE GROUND BECAUSE THEY RIPPED IT OUT AND WE RUN INTO THE WOODS BEHIND MY HOUSE. I CAN HEAR THEM HISSING BEHIND US.
IT IS DARK VERY DARK IN THE WOODS.
