SUMMARY: Inspired by the works of Erich von Daniken. It is about, as you might guess, Gods. I wrote it a long time ago, but I think it stands up.

Slowly She shambled towards her mate, shifting her weight alternately between her forelimbs and her hind limbs. He was looking for berries in the bushes near their cave, sitting on his haunches and squinting into the bush from under his hairy eyebrows. Softly She touched his hairy back. He turned towards her and smiled. The long cold winter was over, and it was spring. Colourful, bright, sunny, and full of food.

He handed her some berries, and watched her as She ate. He then stood on his hind limbs. She watched in wonder. He was doing that a lot these days, and getting better and better at it. He could see things no one had ever seen before. It was wonderful. She was proud of him.

They were still eating when it came. The sound was soft at first - a hum that was barely perceptible. Then it escalated into a high-pitched whine, combined with a dull roar. As they watched with open mouths, it descended in a clearing about a hundred yards from where they were. It was huge. A circular shape that loomed over the clearing and kept flashing weird lights.

They hid behind a rock and watched the shape. They were excited like never before. She kept jumping up so She could see over the rock. He shushed her, and then helped her stand on her hind limbs like He did.

As they watched, a hole appeared in the shape, and two creatures descended onto the clearing. They were similar in shape to She and He, except that they had short arms and long legs. Also their skin shone, and their heads were large and circular, and devoid of ears or eyes or a nose.

They had brought some instruments with them, and began to place them in different places.

She was still trying to see over the rock, and at last, She pressed her hands onto the rock, and leaned over it. The rock creaked, but neither noticed it. As She pressed a little harder on it, the rock slid out of place, and rolled to where the strange creatures were standing, breaking one of their instruments. He and She ran towards the creatures, trying to say they were sorry, but it appeared the creatures didn't understand them.

One of the creatures spoke, "Natives are hostile. We are returning. Proceed to Step 2 in 20 minutes." Neither He nor She understood what it was saying.

The two creatures turned and ran towards the shape. When they reached it, they rose in the air and went inside. In a few seconds, the shape rose and flew away.

They were still trying to make sense out of everything when their planet was destroyed.
