Cabin Demise Prologue by Shanda E

His uniforms were the only clothes he owned. The briefcase the man was carrying looked expensive, though. He got a laugh from that. After he'd taken it back to the warehouse, he'd give the boys two minutes to crack it open. He'd take a guess that it wouldn't even take them that long.
Wait for it, Sniper told himself. He was almost in the right spot, if he just took one more step...
He rustled his bag to catch the man's attention. Sniper's finger was wavering on the trigger, waiting for the eyes. Finally, he tightened his finger around it squeezing just enough. The shot echoed through the woods surrounding the log cabin, but he knew no one had heard it. There wasn't another house for miles and the driveway was a mile in itself just to reach the road.
Sniper watched as his head swung to the side and his body gave way beneath him. It was a scene from a movie, and a page out of his diary. He'd seen the same sight so many times it was becoming a routine for him. The shell casing shot to his side and he quickly swiped it up from the ground. As he stood, he covered his tracks and strapped his rifle on his back. His next mission was to find the bullet, grab the briefcase and get back to the warehouse to check in.

Red stood nervously in front of his Commanding Officer. He knew that the news he was bearing would not put a smile on the aging man's face.
"What the hell is going on, Red, that you need to interrupt me?" The First Sergeant asked.
"I'm afraid we have a serious problem, Sir. The crew and I discovered a breach in our security. We're almost sure that the civilian doesn't know anything, Sir." Red updated, his scrawny arms shaking behind his back.
"Almost sure?" The First Sergeant yelled. "What do you mean you're almost sure he doesn't know anything?"
Suddenly Red's uniform felt constricting and itchy. "One of the guards said he looked familiar, but he didn't take him as a spy or a snoop. Then we caught him trying to look in one of the back windows. A guard went outside to confront him, but he took off running. We weren't able to catch him without blowing cover, Sir."
The Sergeant sighed in anger. First he spoke softly to himself, too softly for Red to hear. "This guy may not know much, but the word is yet if not already." The CO informed Red. "If he'd seen anything or found anything out, he has potential to find out more and/or open his mouth." He looked directly into Red's sorrowing Green eyes. "I want you to get to work on who this guy is.
"Find out his name, occupation, age, anything and everything. I want to know if there's any military back round in his family. That includes brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles or cousins. If there's anybody in his family in the military, I want to know. We need the advantage. I want to know every mistake he's ever made in his life. Fucking hell, I want to know how many times the guy takes a shit each day. We're going to use anything and everything we've got to keep his mouth shut.
"Find out where he lives and what his daily schedule is. I want all the information about this asshole on my desk before Sunday." When Red stood quiet, the First Sergeant slammed both palms on his desk.
