It was one of them, one of my twisted captors from the previous day, a Sati. One of the females with the apparatus attached to her arm. Her hand reached into a pouch at her side emerging with what appeared to be a small globe with a slight depression at its top. Her thumb pressed into the depression and it began to emanate a bright light, bright enough to illuminate the surrounding area. She paused only for a moment and then walked towards the creature that Ral had killed in flight. Pressing the top of her foot against it she sneered.

"Damnable Zealots, when will they learn they are no match for the Sati?"

I sat quietly, trying to calm my breathing which had grown random and heavy. Her gaze turned to me.

"What of you my sweet? My lord wishes you returned. Oh, what plans they have for you. So strong spirited..." She knelt before me and graced my cheek with the back of her hand. "...to run from us. Did you think you would truly escape us?" a grin passed over her cold pale face and quickly vanished.
"Answer me!"
Her hand rose and fell landing with a loud smack across my face.

"yes...I – I, thought..."

"Silence stock! I know what you thought, and now you know different. Don't you?"

"...yes."

The other creature came behind her, its breathing was heavy and hard. It was hunched over, using its arms as a secondary set of legs, pressing its weight atop its knuckles as it strode. Saliva strung from its teeth, which had no lips to hide behind. Its massive forearms were wrapped in leather straps which held its razor talons onto its hands. The legs were broken and twisted in a way that would make them more appropriate for jumping great distances. The mere sight of this new depravity made me quiver, what would become of me?!

"Suspend that one between those trees there..." She declared as she pointed to Torks unconscious body. "...and when you are done with that carve him so that the creatures of this swamp are attracted to his sweetness."

She then bound my wrists with the same metal muffs that had been used on the others in the caravan. A chain lead was attached to my bonds like a leash and I was dragged to my feet.

"Walk!"

We walked for hours. The muscles in my legs burned with fatigue, my eyes felt as if lead weights had been attached to their lids.

Stay awake...must – stay – awake...my mind wouldn't or couldn't stop replaying the horrific scene of Aden's death, that feeling of his dead hand upon me.

And what of poor Tork, suspended in those trees, food for the creatures that would feast upon his flesh. That poor man, what was it she called them? Zealots? A human resistance? I couldn't stop my mind from delighting in that thought.

Perhaps there is a chance for my salvation, a salvation for everyone that was captured. Perhaps these Zealots would come looking for their friends and find us. If only I knew where they were, I could try and escape once again. My eyes drifted to the creature leading me.

What of her? What did she mean; they have such plans for me? What plans? What could they possibly want with me? Oh Father, if you are there, please save me from this torturous world!

"Halt!" she screamed and then knelt to the ground.

"We are close!" She exclaimed

"Close to what?"

"If you must know Viscus, we are close to Maestitia." She proclaimed.

"Viscus?" what is a Viscus, and why did she call me it?

"A Viscus is what we call you slaves.
