Part 1 Chapter 1 Section A-The Dream

I am standing before a lng and flat plain. I am surrounded by ever shifting whisps of fog. Strange shapes and creatures seem to appear in the fog. Unnamed horrors only seen in nightmares surround me. Wraiths and incoporeal shades drift and ebb with the fog, never straying to far from it. Then the fog lightens for just a moment, and I see a glint of metal on the horizion.

Correct that, several glints of metal. I cnan barely make it out in the distance, but they appear to be moving closer to them. The wall of metal rips up the land and throws dust into the air, creating for itself a sand storm. The early twilight light reflects upon the approaching metal wall, creating a melody of dark red shapes.

Then the machines come closer and I can see they are great conscructs of forged steel and iron. They move on no wheels, and seem to glide by on the air. Their approach is marked by no louds souns or booms, they approach me in eerie silence and in great numbers. Inside of the metal conscructs I can see the images of me, yet they are garbed in strange armor. They are covered in a sleek and well styled stell armor, even their heads. Their eyes glow a dull red, and I wonder if perhaps what approaches me is an army of demons.

Then I see that I am in a shadow. I look up and see a great wingless bird hover above me. It stands in mid air with almost no effort, except for the small brush of wind against my hair I would not know that it was there. Then I see it is not a bird at al, but another one of thye metal machines. What great architects and steel workers these people were! They created a machine that defies the gods, and have powers beyond that of any normal man.

The machines seem to be gathering know, as if to shudder in the early morning's frail light. The men with the red eyes disembark from the steel behemoths and take up positions around their machines. They put down large cylindrical batteries. I cannot fathon their purpose but know that they must have some strange and mystical power. The whirl of silent weapons surrounds me, with the energy corporeal in the air.

Then I see the machines begin the power up and come to life. The men behind them seem anxious and scared, I look around and see the approach of another steel army. They are just like the other group, but come in greater numbers. Nearly three times as many machines and Air machines approach in a single column. The batteries make a strange hmming noise and release a ball of light at the incoming men. A momentarily discharge of light is the only proof that their weapon worked, except for course for the air machine that crashed to the ground nearby.

Then I understood, the strange and wonderous machines of the two groups were going to fight, and I was in the middle of it. Yet neither group had signaled or even acknolwedge me. I had to find shelter and safety. I reached over to touch one of the metal clad men and my hand went straight through him.
