(Page 2 of 2) Solace: Uneasy by Micah WatkinsOne time I even played protector of one of my daughter Kyri's friends. A some bullies would pick on her after school and one day she suddenly had a 300 foot dragon protecting her everywhere she went. Of course, I walked the halls in my human form, but it was still fun.
Yet, these days have long since died. Dragons began to leave the planet in large numbers a few thousand years ago. Me and three of my siblings are the last Terran dragons. We are the last protectors of the human race. The peace is growing uneasy, and no one is sure how much longer it will last. So, solace is the beginning of war, yet war, is the beginning of solace.
My comfort now lays in holding my youngest daughter at night and tea parties with my other daughters while my husband plays video games with my son. This is how we wait. We know this calm is building to the ultimate war; the end of Terra is coming, and how do you prepare for the end of the world in a time of peace? We don't know when it will come, but it's coming.
