Galactic Warfare 2-The Limera Conflict Chapter 4-The Kiliteran Tragedy by Thomas PelletierSUMMARY: The Lekers, a violent reptile race, make first contact with the an unknown enemy. Tentions arise and the threat of Intergalactic War looms. Read to find out what happens in, The Limera ConflictThe Leker stood tall and continued," I took it upon myself Lord to inquire into the strange ship that enters out system. Given the range, no specific details are available but its speed and drive appear very primitive." A bunch of schematics appeared in the air above the Leker. It was a low level hologram, and was the best the lowly servant could make. It showed the space ship's trajectory and direction. Both the Captain and the Crown Prince's eyes followed the origins to the Aerisei Cloud. "As you all may know," continued the Leker. "No one has ever entered the Aerisei Cloud and returned, but these people came from the other side of it. I fear that a mistake now could repeat the Kiliteran Tragedy.
Both the Captain and the Crown Prince thought back...far back...to their ancient history lessons. Three millennium ago the Leker people were very primitive. They had just learned the use of metallic tools, and promptly killed one another with them. This was just how they were, vicious and mean and desiring nothing more than to be covered in blood. Unknown to them, a lone spaceship drifted through space.
Their home world had been destroyed by a massive solar flare and only they had managed to escape. They had gone for their first and only warp drive to this system. There were only 3,000 left. Barely enough to start a new world, but enough. They were hoping beyond hope, that maybe a planet there could support them. So for nine years they traveled between the stars, heading for the Leker system. Only the chance that they may continue their race, that their children might have a home carried them aloft. When they finally reached it they were overjoyed to find that it had a habitable planet, and there was an intelligent race on it!
Without further watching the Lekers they headed to the planet's surface and began preparations to land. If they had watched just a moment longer they would have seen the brutality and hatred that was the lifeblood of those reptiles. They flew through the heavens like a ball of fire, and to the Lekers below they appeared to be demons. When they landed, they opened the space ship and breathed in the air of a new world. Within hours they sent a delegation to speak wit the Lekers.
That envoy was captured and eaten alive. You see the Lekers were also cannibals and had a very strange belief that the strong could gain the powers of others by consuming them. Their razor sharp teeth crushed the Kiliteran flesh and they said it was better than anything they had. While the rest of the Leker tribe prepared far war, one dissenting voice said no. For that he was butchered alive and left to die slowly and painfully of blood lust. His family was left without a father, and they were pushed to the lowest of Leker society.
While the Leker warriors reached the Kiliteran capsule, the benevolent aliens came out to greet them. For their openness, they were slaughtered like cattle. That day all Lekers ate well...of Kiliteran flesh. While almost all of the aliens died immediately a single one was able to press the self destruct button on the spaceship. He knew that he could not release the Leker plague onto the universe. So then moments later the ship was destroyed and all the Lekers died.
They were later honored by other Lekers and made into heroes, while the son of the chieftain who led the attack was name Liamara. And the Leker who spoke out against it was killed, and his family sold into slavery. Centuries later Leker scientists were able to learn the secrets of warp travel from the Kiliteran ship's remains. But if they had been kind and listened to the Kiliterans, they could have entered the heavens those two thousand years earlier.
As the lowly Leker spoke to them, none knew he was the descendant of that Leker, the one that had spoken out. He quivered on the inside but stood his ground and showed only pride. The Crown Prince listened to his words and then contemplated his actions. What he did next would determine the future of their Lekers, and the fate of their race.
