I do have to admit that this is all a bit too much."

Adriana felt it her place to chime in. "It's okay Robert. You're feeling displaced right now and that is natural. I've seen it many times. You're going to be okay."

Robert shot a quick glance at his surroundings. The hover droid was near waiting for him to ask a question, and to be of any and every kind of assistance possible. Spartan looked past the droid and at the city block he had known all his life. It had once been so familiar and now seemed so alien. New technologies covered every corner, it was carried by every person his eyes encountered, and in Robert's wildest dreams he never imagined flying vehicles being the norm in the sky directly above him.

"Perhaps we should get you into a more comfortable setting." Adriana looked to the entrance of the apartment building. "It has remained virtually unchanged since your departure."

................................

The silver door slid open and Robert took the first step back into his true world. In his own time this place was what he lived for. If he wasn't working insane hours in the company office he was here relaxing and soaking up the peaceful solitude his home afforded. Once again the tranquility of this place set his mind at peace.

The droid followed moving around the apartment as if it had a life all its own. It studied the now antique furniture and electronic equipment with a childlike curiosity. This both intrigued and disturbed Robert. Lucas floated through the entrance on his custom made black hover chair which was granted to him by his lovely granddaughter. She followed allowing the silver door to slide shut behind her.

"It feels like we were in here just yesterday Lucas."

"For you, Robert, we pretty much were. For me it's been a century, as you can obviously see." The once young and vibrant Lucas who was now an old man let out an old man's laugh at the situation.

Robert strolled to the large glass patio door. The great view he once had was now blocked by larger buildings and modifications to his own apartment complex. The patio that was once the highest point of his building was now the middle supporting more structures. As a result Robert stopped from stepping outside. The patio now felt like more of a confined space than an escape.

"Your company is in good hands I trust?" Lucas inquired.

Robert walked to the leather couch sitting only after Adriana did. "Yes it is." Robert couldn't hide the disappointment in his voice.

"The funeral was appropriate for your brother." Lucas sighed. "No one could foresee such an accident happening only two days after your suspended animation."

"I was looking forward to seeing the family line grow. But it died with him."

"That's nonsense old friend." Lucas moved closer tapping the controls on his hover chair. "You are still here. Your line can live on through you. You need to remember that."

"Forgive me for asking Mr. Spartan," Adriana chimed in, "But I do wish to inquire about your finances. Are they sound?"

"Very much so.
