SUMMARY: The Lekers, a violent reptile race, make first contact with the an unknown enemy. Tentions arise and the threat of Intergalactic War looms. Read to find out what happens in, The Limera Conflict

The alien continued to speak in its bizarre and shrilling tongue for several more minutes, if was aware to both sides that the Insectoids were not being understood. The Overmind therefore instructed its smaller component, the insect on screen, to speak for the sake of speaking. In the meantime, the Leker computer had been using all of its components to analyze and decipher the Insectoid language. It was, obviously, having trouble. For any other Galactic Alliance vessel the process would have taken much less time, but then again this was a Leker starship. Unlike other races, the Leker liked having specialized tools and computers, since they used things in the same way. To kill each other, of course.

So it took the vastly limited computer a great deal of time to do something it wasn't programmed for. This effectively including everything outside of plotting enemy starships and launching missiles. Ironically the technologically advancement of the Lekers had made their computers actually more limited then the Insectoids. While the machine whirled away on its computing speed (very slow), the Leker crew found themselves in a bind.

Every single person on that ship was loyal to the Leker Empire and the Liamara, with the possible exception of Grimar and his bodyguards. These Lekers found themselves in a precarious situation. They had the loyalty of their home world, and the conflicting ideals of Grimar. Grimar was obviously much closer to them, but everyone knew that he was selfish and his motivations were not for the good of all Lekers. They all felt sure the Liamara would wish to be notified of this incident before any actions were taken, but it would take months for the news to reach him when they were this far out. That and the fact the Insectoid fleet was just outside them. Any action that they undertook would have to be independent of any guidance. Their own thoughts and notions would guide them.

In any other situation they would not have worried about attacking an enemy. The Lekers had established themselves as one of the greatest military powers in the galaxy, a title that they fought to maintain. For this honor the Leker people had crushed an annihilated several planets and at least a hand full of species. The Kiliterans were their first conquests, but by far not the last. Yet this new enemy fleet was stronger than any species the Lekers, no the Galactic Alliance had ever encountered. A mistake now would be disastrous for all species.

The sight of the insectoid ships had driven away the feeling of invulnerability that the Lekers had always thrived on. They now felt an emotion they never had before, fear. A fear of the Insectoids, and what they might do. That Insectoid colony ship could very easily destroy a quarter of the entire Leker fleet, and where there was one there must be more. The Lekers could only imagine the kind of industry that it would take to build a ship like that, and it was not a very good thought to have it as an enemy.

Grimar stood in his private chambers, considering how best to proceed.
