Toy stood, dressed in a pair of black pants, a black shirt and long black coat with silver trimming and buttons. His long dark hair was pulled back tightly with a silver band.
"Ready?" he asked, his voice deep and soft. I nodded.
"Nearly. Can you just tie this for me?" I handed him the silver sash and he tied it around my waist. "Thanks." Using his hand he supported my arm and led down the corridor.

I lost track of where we were and which way we turned. Toy stopped outside a double wooden door. I felt the power emanating from the room behind those doors and gulped. Toy dropped my arm and turned to me.
"You need to play along. Okay?" I stared at him, questioningly. "Just don't look up, keep your eyes to the floor and stay behind me at all times. Okay?" I nodded. "And whatever you do don't speak." Toy turned and pushed the doors open. His stride was strong. He led me to a chair and table at the far end of the room. At the table was seated a young woman wearing a silver head piece encrusted with dark coloured jewels. Toy stopped a few feet short of the desk. He bowed his head.
"Countess." he said. The young lady looked up from her writing and smiled, a bitter sweet smile.
"Toy. You have returned at last." The young lady stood and walked over to where Toy was standing. She offered her hand and he kissed it gently. I lingered behind him, watching.
"Countess Jeshika. I have returned but unfortunately my search has not ended with good news. I‘m ashamed to say that Marina and her child died several months ago, in a fatal accident."
"Pity. But I can see your hunt wasn't a complete failure." The Countess gestured towards me. My eyes dropped and I began to study the floor.
"A new toy, my pet?" She looked questioningly at Toy. He nodded. The Countess looked past Toy and glanced over me. Her pout was quickly overtaken by a cold smile. She walked over to me and began circling me, inspecting my body. "I must say Toy you've chosen well. She's very pretty but what is her intended purpose? Surely she's not going to be a blood slave? Is she?" The Countess turned her head to face Toy.
"She will have her uses." he smiled but not a smile I had seen before. A cold, malicious smile, that did not reach his eyes. The Countess returned the smile.
"Very well. You may keep her in your wing." And with that she returned to her table and her writing. We were dismissed. Toy turned and headed for the door with me tagging along behind him. We entered the hall but he did not stop walking. I followed. I heard the doors closing behind us.

Finally, Toy stopped. He opened a small wooden door and pushed me inside the empty room. I turned to him, wanting answers.
"What on earth was that? Who is she?" I could feel my frustration rising as I waited for an answer. Toy let out a long breath.
"That was your first encounter with the most powerful Vampire of the Coven; the Countess." Toy knew he had not answered all I asked.
"Why didn't you tell her who I was? Why did you say I was dead? It's a lie and you know it." Toy looked at me and gestured towards one of the chairs.
