(Page 3 of 9) Innocent Evil - Continued by Tari XalyrI sat down. Toy took a key out of his pocket and locked the door so we would not be disturbed. Taking a seat across from me, he sighed. If Jeshika knew who you were you would never survive here, or anywhere, for that matter. You must understand. The Countess is your grandmother." I froze.
"She's my grandmother?" Toy nodded.
"Just don't ask until I've finished okay?" I nodded. "She sent me to find you and your mother. Your mother ran away just after you were born, taking you along. Jeshika has been searching for her since and she found her a couple of years ago. Now you need to understand as a vampire you have little sense of time, because we live so long, so while you think a couple of years is a long time, to Jeshika it isn't. Jeshika sent her nephew, your cousin, Michael to find you and he did but your mother defended you and some how she managed to kill him. Jeshika wanted her more because of it. She wanted you and your mother to suffer pain beyond belief before she condemned you both to the stake. That's when she sent me. My job was to find you both and bring you back here. And I found you, at an audition, about a year or so ago now. I followed you, studied you, looking for a weak point and I quickly found it, well several. Your mother had forgotten about Jeshika and had let you walk freely. So I reported back to Jeshika and she said to move on with the plan and bring you and her daughter back immediately. So the night after your brothers birthday I waited for you to turn the light out and go to sleep and then I snuck into your house, which wasn't difficult, and found your room. You were asleep. And then . . . . ." Toy stopped. I looked up at him. He turned his gaze away from me and headed for the door.
"And?" He stopped and let out a long sigh.
"And you should be thankful I didn't bring you back here as a human and especially as Mary, grand-daughter to the Countess." he opened the door and I followed him out the room.
Fate & Understanding:
That conversation revealed, to me, more understanding of my mother and why she had acted the way she did. I now saw her form a new perspective. All the self defence classes weren‘t the typical motherly protection thing but served a more serious purpose. The constant moving houses and changing schools without explanation, I now suspected as escapes from Jeshika and her little pets.
But there was one thing I still did not understand; Toy. Who was he?
Toy was a very secretive person and did not explain anything further than necessary, which can be really bothersome at times, especially when that extra information is vital in your eyes to answering many questions, not asked.
This question still has not been fully answered and unfortunately never will be completely understood, because fate chose not to allow it.
Toy: Past and Present
Since my introduction to the Countess and the conversation with Toy I'd pretty much been left to my own devices, with Toy checking in every now and again to make sure his ‘slave' was still alive. I've managed to grapple my bearings over the last few days, exploring the wing and then revisiting that same place the next day, making sure I didn't get lost.
