That rocks - I love it. Thanks for sending it along.
      Hope all is well.

      Great news. Congrats!!!
To quote a friend of mine: "Why would I be in a worse position than you?" :D
We renovate the new place, which made my life shorter by at least five years, and there is still a lot to be done but it was not hard for me to adapt because I am pretty used to moving - this was my 8th move in the past 19 years so nothing out of the ordinary really :)
I wanted to ask you a favor. Since things have been slow at work I started dribbling something which should hopefully grow into a fantasy novel, and I wondered if I could run some of my ideas by you so that you could give me your opinion and help me not write something that has already been written.

      Yo, Seak man!
      Long time no see :)
How are things with you? I follow your blog as often as I can. Great pictures of the little guy. I got me another one of those so now I have two little boys. Things have been pretty hectic around here with the new baby, we moved, I got a new job so I had no time for anything else. I am reading on public transportation and in bed, five minutes until my eyes let me down. Still, I have managed to read a few of Honor Harrington series' books. Let me tell you, they are quite a read, much better than i had expected.
Best wishes to you and your family

Thanks much. When they find out what a true nut-job I am, I'll probably be banned forthwith. I'll see how long I can pull off the "sane charade."
    5. NickeeCoco
Thank you Seak, appreciate it. :)

Hey Seak! You'll have to let me know if Machine of Death is any good :D

Being a lawyer is the best decision I've ever made, but law school really made me think about whether it was worth it. It was just a miserable experience for me, but I probably don't need to tell you that. And you're right; there was very little in law school that prepared me for practice. All I can say is get summer jobs in different kinds of enviornments to see what you prefer.

Now, however, I love my job. I work for a large insurance company as coverage and sometimes general counsel for their claims handling organizations in Wa, Or and Hi. Ive also worked all over the west with this company, for example in just about all of the states west of Utah. The diversity alone makes it worth it, plus I never have to put up with as^%$le partners. Or, more exactly, if I discover one, I get to fire him or her. ;) Ive been out for over ten years, and have done this for about six now. I can't imagine ever going back to litigation again.

It'll all end soon enough. Hows the program there? Will they get you ready for the CA bar (or wherever you plan on practicing?)
    9. Omphalos
2L, huh? Surpirsed you have the time to poke your head up. I remember that being the worst of the three years. Where do you go? I went to McGeorge in Sacramento.

      It is a long story.
It happened in 1995 when I started to play an online game, Genesis. My English was null, let alone Latin. So, I was not aware of Astra - Star. It's a name of a flower in Russian or a spy's nick :) I translated the first line of the text when I tried to log in to the game: Create a nickname, and the first one to pop up in my mind was Astra :p

No worries, I just enjoy getting feedback where I can. Even if you hated it, I want to hear about it!

Hey, thanks for your comment about the cover. It turned out far better than I could have hoped. I'll be curious to hear what you think of the book.
    15. Tanaros
Just saw your invitation. Thanks, man. I would love to be friends. A bit busy right now.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hey Seak man - whats up? Thanks for the invite.

Congrats on winning Erikson's book on Peter Williams' blog. I haven't gotten that far on the Malazan series, taking a break but I hear that the book is good.

Hey man, thanks for the congratulations and for the new perspective of the reading that lies ahead of me.
I read Perdido Street Station and it had the same effect on me. Mr. Mieville is a hell of a writer.

      Hey Seak,
You can definitely read it as a stand alone - and at a whopping 1000 pages it stands all on its own. There are references throughout to the characters from Pillars but Follet just makes it part of the history of the town and reference points for the main characters in World Without End i.e. ancestors. I loved both books - they carried me back in time. You'll fall in love with some of the characters and HATE others - alot. Let me know if you take the plunge. I have never listened to an Audio Book but I spend a lot of time in the car for work on occasion and thought it would be a nice diversion. Your thoughts?

I love playing Mahjong (not on the internet) and other board games with my wife. We're also addicted to Prison Break.

basketball, competitive swimming, music, I read on occasion.
