I agree with you about Swan Song, I always found it better than The Stand.
The writing couldn't be worse. I've neglected it for months. Strange that we should be talking about it today. I was reading about your progress last night from your blog, and spending the Thanksgiving holiday (Thursday - Sunday) reorganizing the area where I write to make it more conducive to breaking through the snags where I hit them. I've it set up so that I'm isolated and completely out of the way. Now that the neural hemorrhaging of the annual budget process is over, its about 8 hours at work, 8 hours at sleep and, at least 2 hours in the chair. Sometimes, I forget to breathe, then I pass out. :D
Things are largely well. I've a two-and-a-half month old and 2010 budgets on six medical office buildings grinding me into oblivion but by next week, life should return to a reasonable semblance of normality.
I just signed up over at your page. It's a pleasant surprise to discover someone at the same place in life. I'm slightly older, and been married a bit longer, but we've got a newborn son and I'm spending a lot of time trying to pull together a story I've taken notes on for years. Though too large by far, I'm working on shrinking it into something manageable.
Sincere congratulations on the joy of your new wife and son.
