Wow. Marky Mark as Case. Kiss that one goodbye.
I don't know who Marky Mark is but I don't doubt that The Two Faces of Tomorrow by James P. Hogan would make a batter movie than Neuromancer.
Marky Mark= Mark Wahlberg, he used to be in a boy band. lol
I know. I Googled him right after I wrote that post.
That is one of the things that makes the Internet so cool.
I am not seeing anything on any browser I use when I click on that link.
I agree about Marky Mark. I honestly cannot figure out why they keep giving that guy roles. He has one facial expression, and its surly.
Right on, dude, he's an ok actor, never was into whatever music he did.
That movie might be kinda cool though.
case was 20, wahlberg is 40.
Welcome to Hollywood.
And Wahlberg was pretty great in Boogie Nights and The Departed. Then again, he had two great directors guiding him.
Wahlberg is not a bad actor. Might not be the best but it isn't like they are talking about getting Tom Cruise here. I would be more interested in who the director is.
Agree that the director would be key to this; also important is who they will cast as Molly. Her character is every bit as important (if not more so) as is Case.
It may be the cynic in me but I don't have much hope for this. I believe that there is about a 90% chance that Hollywood will utterly screw this project up. However there is a slim chance that they will utterly screw it up in a good way.
That being said I will probably still shell out my ten bucks like all the other suckers who have forgotten about the disasterous Johnny Neumonic!
DDC, I'd give it higher than 90%, probably in the 99% category myself.
Here's a prediction - given Molly's preference for skintight leather outfits, the actress for Molly will not be 40 like Wahlberg but 20 instead. Wahlberg is a great actor but he is best at playing tough guy roles with lots of muscle, the opposite of the drug-addicted nerd Case.
Man, I hope that movie is still in development. I really want to see it! And I think that Marky as Case is a good idea? Why not? Ok, maybe I say it just because a huge fan of Walhberg, but there's nothing criminal in such casting. He's a good actor and his huge net worth is the best proof of this ($200 million according to this article Why Mark Wahlberg Net Worth is so Tremendously Huge?). Considering the fact that he already had roles in various science fiction movies like Transformers, Max Payne, I can say that he's a good candidacy. Anyway, I just hope that the project isn't frozen.
Well, not long ago Vincenzo Natalie dropped out of the film. I thought he was the perfect choice for director of the film. He is the writer\director of the first Cube film, Splice, and recently Haunter. I know that when he was attached Liam Neeson and Mark Whalberg were offered roles, and I would hate to see them in it. With those two you know exactly what type of movie you'll see, and that's not the type of movie Neuromancer should be turned into.
