I just ordered books three through eight of David Weber's Honor Harrington series.
Just bought :
Alastair Reynolds - Chasm City
Alastair Reynolds - Redemption Ark
Alastair Reynolds - Absolution Gap
Alastair Reynolds - Century Rain
... and I'm planning on getting all those I'm missing!
Been a while since I last bought books, I was binging on Iain M. Banks recently but I suffered from "Banks burnout syndrome", especially after reading Revelation Space between Look to Winward and Inversions. None of the other Culture novels seem to match the sense of urgency of Consider Phlebas and Use of Weapons (and Against a Dark Background). I can see where the novels with within the Culture narrative, but there's just not enough going on.
So Reynolds, and I plan to purchase House of Suns and The Prefect and Pushing Ice..
What did you think of it, Peter?
How did I miss this. Actually, I've not read it yet, but had heard plenty of good things about Weber, that I've stocked up. I picked up this single Honor book, and two of the books from the Safehold series.
Just bought Judas Unchained, by Hamilton.
I just bought it and Pandora's Star. Have yet to get to them but I hear they are good.
Yeah, I've another Books-a-Million outlet in town to check for Pandora's Star before working through the online angles.
Just received A Canticle for Leibowitz. Don't know what it will be like, but so many people on this forum have said it's a classic that I had to give it a try.
Also recently bought and re read Logan's Run after Sparrow disagreed with me and said it was one of the rare cases where the film was better than the book........ I still think the book is better. It does suffer from so much happening in such a short book, but there are countless scenes that would have made the film much more exciting.
The Search for Fierra - Lawhead
The Siege of Dome - Lawhead
By Schism Rent Asunder - Weber
The Demon Princes (the SFBC omnibus edition) - Vance
A Mighty Fortress - Weber
Twisted Metal - Tony Ballantyne. Hardback, £3. SCORE!
Natural History - Justina Robson
I just used a Barnes & Noble gift card to get some books, The Reality Dysfunction by Peter F. Hamilton, Deathstalker by David Brin and Fledgling by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. I started Deatstalker and while I like it I am a little disapointed. I heard that it was a simple, kind of intentionally cheesy, fun space opera, but at times it was kind of stale. I put it down for a while but still plan on finishing it eventually.
I also started the Reality Dysfunction and I really like it which is no surprise since Hamilton is one of my favorite authors.
I just bought A Fire Upon the Deep. I gotta reread it soon...
To all my fellow canadians, my local winners/homsense had about 40 hardcover copies of the passage for 10 bucks.
*Ahem* Or not.
Alright, I just ordered the US release of Mass Effect: Retribution.
The UK one's been delayed 2-3 times now, and I got fed up. Plus the US import is a tad cheaper
Just bought Emmissaries from the Dead by Adam Troy-Castro and Alastor by Jack Vance.
Just ordered from Amazon
The Evolutionary Void by Peter F. Hamilton
Stealing Light by Gary Gibson
Blacklung Captain by Chris Wooding
On Basilisk Station by David Weber.
