The real NaNoWriMo, national even? No, I'm not in.

What we did here at SFFWorld for a while? I'm still debating.

A good friend of mine has suckered me into a mano a mano game of NaNoWriMo. I'd thought I would see who else might come along the torture ride.

Wulfen - you actually sound like you are looking forward to it. You go!

RedMage - can you do one sentence a day?

Yes, I am participating in National November Writing Month. I've even gotten my first mini-challenge from my friends. 7,500 by Sunday and I get to go to an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet.

I'm basically pausing my work on the 'real' novel for the next month, and starting a new project for this. Afterwards, I'm hoping the time away from my current project will help to refine it.

I've never written at this kind of pace, so this should prove interesting.

I think you know the answer is Yes. Lol. I'm just having story trouble. Nothing like over the summer and last spring, but I've got to figure out what's going on. That's what I'm debating right now. But, no, I don't think I will do the official. I have nothing new that is ready to be written right now so I will have to skip it.

Good luck to all you NaNo-ers!

I intend to use the deadline to try and finish my work in progress. That means rather less than 50k, more like 35, and in a time scale not too much less than that which produced the previous 35. If I can do that I'll be delighted; if not, at least putting me close enough to finish it this year will do.

That's what we've done in the past here on the site. It works a bit clunkier than the real NaNoWriMo site (here's the link for anyone who doesn't know what we are talking about - FYI - the site is overwhelmed at the moment), but we just use the collective NaNo-energy to finish our own projects unofficially.

I'm game to do that again, but without the graphs. We can just report in and I'll keep track (loosely).

Here's my goal: 20,000 words by the end of November 30th (or 666 words a day).

Since the smilies are not really working yet...here's my evil grin:

I'm too busy with my third book in the series.

But recently, I've been averaging two chapters on a good a day - or roughly 10,000 words, a day!
With work and whatnot, it comes down to about 15,000-20,000 a week :)

I actually timed myself, the prose comes off at 60 words/min ...

Reporting in to this thread? I'm up for that. I got the jump on it with 600 words yesterday, so I'll give a new running total tonight.

I've also joined this stuff, for the first time, kind of confused and excited and scared at the same time.

My daughter is doing it. She's going to a local write-in on Thursday. With my laptop as we have to get hers fixed. I've spawned a monster.

My employment situation (or lack thereof) is such that I have to time to give it a go this year. I am looking forward to it and this will be a real departure from my usual fussy writing style where I type a line and then agonize over it and change it 3 times before deleting it and starting a new line. This is flat out speed writing.

Since I live out where the buses don't run and have any cheap at home internet options I imagine I'll only drag myself to town once a week to use the free wifi at McD's to post my progress. It helps that I like their coffee even more than Tim Horten's. In Canada, admiting that is the only hanging offense still left on the books.

Wow - glad to see all the enthusiasm!

KatG - I hope your daughter does well.

Jim - you'll have no problem being distraction free. Go for it!

DailyRich and Slynt - good luck with the official word count. I know you both can do it.

Igor - tie one hand behind your back and sit cross-legged when you write. That should bring ya back down to human word-counts!

Santaria - you can try the unofficial version with us?

Looks like it is just me and Nou that are doing it unofficially.

I came up with a quick logo for those of us doing it unofficially. Ta-da!

For those not participating in NaNoWriMo (or my lame InNoWriMo), check back throughout November and cheer us all on! We can all use your support!

Okay, as of posting, we have...4.5 more hours to go...hold your breath...gird your loins...sharpen your swords...don the armor...and get ready for...

    InNoWriMo 2012!

    Or NaNoWriMo 2012.

Quick question: So the deal is I just add the current word count to the "Update Word Count" link? Is there something else I'm supposed to do?

Correct. You could go hang out on the forums, but that will distractyou from writing! Or you could check out your buddies' progress (I am ne_white) or keep writing! :)
