    Hi :)

Turnout for the previous contest was abysmal so please please please get something in for the Sept - Oct contest fellas! It's not a contest if nobody participates! I'm going to put this up super early so that everybody has a lot of time to work with.

About the theme ... I really liked the theme of secrecy in The Malingerer & wouldn't mind reading something similar so I therefore decided that the theme for this round is going to be ... *drum roll*

    Skeletons In The Closet

Min word count for stories is same as last time, 2500 words. Max word count is ~10K.

    Have fun!

The wheels are turning in my head. . . I think I can work with this.

    BTW, what's the deadline?

I'm afraid The End anthology is pulling folks away, and I've been busy with work, so haven't had time to write. I still have tons of work this month, but I'll try to squeeze in a story. Great theme, by the way.

I really need to get back on this wagon, been focusing too much on the flash. And this is sparking all kinds of ideas...

I remember these. Oh how I miss them. Last one I wrote, I sold (many a year ago). I may participate, but what I write might get sent off to see if I can sell it.

Glad to see these have kept going.

Howdy JR, I hope you do participate. We created the Stories Sub-forum just for that reason. Since it is accessible to members-only, there's less of a chance of an editor calling it "published" (as opposed to publishing it on the Stories section of this site).

    Did that make sense?

Anyway, would be good to see some fresh blood, oh, I mean, a new author to read. :)

I will see what I can come up with. I also need to do something for the flash fiction as well. :)

This sparked a really fun idea in my head. Looking forward to delving into it.

    I'll try.

As usual, I will most likely fail but it's worth a crack. I think I might actually write about an actual skeleton in a closet ...

I have such a wicked idea! I do hope I get some time to knock it out.

Someone might have to give Caedus a PM-nudge. I'll do that later if he doesn't surface before...later... ;)

    Problem with submitting

Hey guys. For some reason it says my story can't be posted to the story sub-forum because the text is to long 36947 characters and it want's me to reduce it to 20000. How can I even post my story?
    Andr01d.

My understanding is that you have to manually split anything over that character limit across multiple posts. Not the most elegant situation, but it's not too distracting for the reader. I usually write in Word which (probably you know) gives a character count alongside the word count, so I'd use something like that to break the piece into post-sized chunks then paste them in one after the other.

Yup, stuff the maximum it will allow into the first post, then reply to your first post with the next chunk, lather rinse repeat as many times as required to get it all posted.

I might just have an idea for this as well. Maybe. How long have we got till the deadline, did anyone ever find out?

We're a Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror forum so anything that roughly fits one (or more) of those definitions is fine :)

I'll ask, and if I don't get a response from Caedus by tomorrow, we'll just pick a date.
