Read the first book and found it to be quite average. The plot is decent and interesting, but the author really needed to work on writing better dialogues and character building. Instead of letting the story build the world, it is all done and expressed by the main character, Elisa. I wish other characters would speak up. With everything being opinionated by only Elisa, I kept wondering how much of these imaginations are just deluded whining of a low self-esteem brat. The dialogues are unrealistic, the characters lifeless, people making stupid decisions with no reasoning behind them.

Maybe I am being a bit too harsh. It is just that I also recently read Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bones, and found the plot and writing style to be quite similar, but done much better.
