    what a wonderful idea for a subforum!
    Reading as much SF as I read since so many years, I found myself often wondering where did I read that???

    So: I remember there were different posthuman variants, more or less enhanced.
    I remember almost-alive spaceships, sharing with their captains very strong psychic bonds.
    And I remember that - at the end of their lifetimes - these spaceships launched some kind of eggs, from which new ships were born.

    Rings any bell?
