My e-mail notify is always on - breaks up the work day when I am stuck in the office.

I lived in Windsor from 95 - 98 with my wife - we were poor students but managed to have a fairly good time of it. Best Thunderstorms of all time!!!

Ah. I was in highschool during those years. ;) Good ol' Walkerville.

Talking about thunderstorms, we've been having quite a few this year. More so than usual. It's kept it pretty cool and has kept the humidity at bay, though. So I'm all for it.

I am on a boring conference call. The subject: wetland delineations. Fun!

Coco, OK-you cant throw that out there and not explain. Of what injustice do you speak and how did you suffer and can you seek revenge!?

TMSO - what is wetland delineation?

And me I am about to have a cold refreshing mug of German beer! And maybe just maybe edit a short story I wrote.

    Cheers.

Ugh. Work. I won't really get into it, because I would have to explain how my employer runs things. Let's just say, I'm getting blamed for something that is not my fault and I'm disputing a documentation.

Say no more - Given how much time we all spend at work it should be a lot nicer place to spend time. Good luck.

No doubt! I can't wait until Windsor picks up a bit and I can get a job in my field. I'll sit happily in an office organising files and creating databases. It might sound odd, but I love that kind of work.

Just got back from visiting my dad in the hospital (developed a clot in his heart) and now I'm watching Scrubs. Seems I can't get away from doctors and nurses! :D

The US Army Corps of Engineers are responsible for maintaining the health of our waterways and wetlands. If someone decides to develop their land (i.e. shopping mall, house, boardwalk, gravel pit, whatever) and that land is suitable or the right vegetation type, then a wetland delineation (where you go out and map all wetland vegetation types like vernal pools, stream channels, wet or dry, etc.) needs to occur. The resultant map is reported to the Army Corp. They review your maps and plans and then tell you what you can and can't do with your wetlands. If you plan to obliterate the existing wetlands, then you have to mitigate that impact by either building wetlands somewhere else close by or modify your development so that you don't obliterate the wetlands. It's a very big thing out here in the arid west. At least, in my line of work, it's a very big thing. You asked.

But right now, I'm working on a fuels mitigation map for a lot in the Santa Lucia Preserve (which is just a uber-rich neighborhood near Carmel, CA).

    Some good news to share!

After over six months being unemployed, I now finally have a job! Got the offer yesterday and will be starting Wednesday next week.

It's not my dream job or my dream salary but any job is worth having in this economic climate! I'm going to be a Sales Assistant in a local branch of the UK's biggest chemist/pharmacy shop chain - Boots. This should hopefully tide me over until I can enter my chosen profession (law).
    :)
